As a self taught artist, Carrie shows that she is dedicated and persistent to hone her craft. She went out and bought art books, downloaded tutorials, observed other artists at work and practiced avidly until she was at the level she wanted. She is still learning however, and will continue to learn new techniques to better her skills. She is pleased that her work was selected to appear in The New Masters of Fantasy Volume III. It tells her that she is doing something right.
Carrie normally works in colored pencil and acrylic, which creates a unique look to most of her pieces. At this time she is branching out into different mediums, digital being the prominent valley to explore. She currently uses PS7 and a little bit of Illustrator. Intuos III tablet is also the preferred tool to create. She has done a number of independent commissions--two covers so far for Aspirations Media, a book company producing fantasy novels, and has developed a good working relationship with them to insure future commissions.
Carrie would like to thank everyone that produced Volume III and the judges that chose the excellent selection of artwork. A great job to all of you.
