Desirée Isphording
Desirée Isphording has been creating art for as long as she is capable of remembering. At the moment, she is especially enamored with the mythopoetic portraiture of Faery muses, Gods, Goddesses, and shapeshifters of legend. She enjoys incorporating mythology, symbolism, local flora and fauna, the realm of Faery, legend, folklore, and her other interests into her work. In particular, her spirituality heavily influences her work, and her work influences her spirituality. Desirée's artwork also possesses something of its own dark aesthetic - there are threads of melancholy, sorrow, and subtle traces of a morbid fascination to be found by the observant throughout her work. The chthonic, arcane, and mysterious have long been inspirational companions, stirring her imagination, leading her to explore certain aspects of myth and symbolism through art.
Desirée is currently pursuing her BFA in Illustration at Tyler School of Art in Elkins Park, PA. In addition to many private commissions over the years, her illustrations have been featured on the covers of PagaNet News and Music K-8 and have graced the pages of SageWoman magazine. Generally preferring a mix of traditional media, Desirée often utilizes a combination of watercolor, Prismacolor colored pencils, watercolor pencils, and ink to create her work.
