Thomas Rumberg
Thomas Rumberg was born in Munich (Germany) in 1970 and he grew up in sunny Greece, where he went to a private school. He never has been the best student in school ... but not the worst either. You could say he has been the kind of boy who sits in the back rows of a class... the kind of shy guy you don't notice particularly. In art-class people suddenly became aware of him, and as time passed by he became aware of the "magical" quality most people commonly call "drawing talent". He began practicing and developing his skills by drawing everything which was of interest at that time using pencils, markers and pens (... mostly X-Wings, Tie-Figthers, Darth Vaders and Luke Skywalkers ... oh yes, Star Wars was the very first movie he watched in a theatre and it still is one of his very favorites!).
After graduating from school his drawing-passion unfortunately fell into oblivion. He went back to Germany where he had to learn a "solid and steady profession", (does this sound familiar?). This was surely one of the worst decisions in his life and he still regrets it. It took him more than 15 years to get back to his pencils-- back to his roots! In the meantime he discovered many fabulous artists and fell in love with their art. Fantastic artists like Frazetta, Brom, Vallejo, Sorayama, Olivia, Giancola, etc., they are too numerous to list them all! This was the point where he decided to start drawing and painting again. Since 2004, he draws and paints regularly and spends almost all his free time with a pencil or a brush in his hand, testing new techniques, trying to improve his skills, exploring and learning. This really feels good to him!
