Kirsi Salonen
Kirsi has always been artistic in one way or another. When she was a kid she used to make teachers crazy finding hundreds of drawings scribbled on her schoolbook's pages.
Nowadays, at the age of 24, she's graduating from South-Carelia Polytechnic Fine Art School in Finland and continues to do digital illustrations and freelance commissions around the clock.
In summer of 2005, Kirsi illustrated role-play cards to a game called "A Game of Thrones" for Fantasy Flight Games. Also 2004-05, she created book cover art for Altair Australia Books to "Andrakis- Trilogy", which is written by Tony Shillitoe. And in 2003-04, she designed game characters to a web game called "the Five Pillars".
Lately she's been working as a freelance graphic designer for a Finnish advertising company (Sesam Productions) making web-graphics, Flash-animations and company brochures.
In Spring '06, all her energy has been focused on graduating from school and making her Final work, which includes four huge printed digital paintings. She has also been commissioned to do concept art to a Finnish animation film.
Whenever Kirsi has free time on her hands, she makes personal artworks. Her inspirations come from simple things and happenings, dreams and from pure imagination. Sometimes something fantastic can pop into her head when she's watching quiet lake in the morning nearby her house. Or when she looks at her Belgian sheepdog's loyal eyes she can only think of a painting where she could place the same kind of emotion and sparkle what she sees when he looks at her.
Kirsi's main tools are Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. Her style can be called fairytale and mixture of dark fantasy.
