Stan Wisniewski
Stan Wisniewski was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1955. Currently he lives in Geneva, Illinois, with his wife, Susan. As a child, he was always drawing -copying photographs or super heroes from comics.
In 1974, Stan entered the American Academy of Art in Chicago, where he studied commercial art. He enjoyed the quick-pose sessions in life class drawing. It was here that he first saw the work of Frank Frazetta. Like many, many others, he was inspired. Stan tried to do paintings with little to no references. These paintings weren’t good, but that did not deter him. He was hooked. For about three years, he became a “starving artist” - until he realized it would take decades for him to paint anything good. Still, he was determined. Stan earned a degree in science and became a computer systems analyst, but continued painting at night. He took life class drawing, studied anatomy, took oil painting lessons, studied animation, and copied the works of Rubens and other masters, etcetera.
Now, almost 30 years later, it is part of Stan’s life style. The Internet has allowed him the opportunity to show his work to a broad audience. Stan has developed a mature style. His goal is to keep pushing, avoiding the pitfalls of turning into a “formula” painter.
