James Wolf
A graduate of the Art Institute of Boston with a degree in illustration/animation, James Wolf is an amazingly talented 21 year old illustrator currently living in Boston. Not wanting to begin digital art until he was at a satisfactory level in the traditional arts, James has finally taken the dive into the new world. However, the traditional aspect of his art career has not been abandoned and occasionally he will return to his former mediums. The main reason he took up digital painting was to increase his productivity because there were far too many ideas in his head and not enough time to produce them all traditionally. He currently uses Photoshop for illustrating but plans to mix in painter as well. Unless it's absolutely necessary, James doesn't use reference because he feels his style is represented better coming from his head. Referencing is always helpful but he believes it can also impair your style if you're not aware of what you're doing. His work is focused primarily on fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. He finds inspiration in the emotional aspect of the human condition.
James is fairly new to the industry but has had little trouble getting his foot in the door. Every successive painting completed is immensely better than the last and this pattern will continue throughout his life as he is constantly learning and observing. Favorable skills he possesses include an incredible imagination, highly conceptual thinking and detailed knowledge of the visual world. Without a doubt, James Wolf has the strength, passion, and drive to make it and works not only to be the best he can be, but to be the best in his field.
